🌍 Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth

A beautiful, thoughtful introduction to our extraordinary planet—and all the people, animals, and wonders we share it with.

Why I chose it

I chose this one for its sense of wonder, its gentle humour, and its lovely reminder that although the world is big and sometimes confusing, kindness matters most.

Created by Oliver Jeffers as a guide to the world for his newborn son, Here We Are takes children on a journey through the land, sea, sky, people, animals, and outer space.

From discovering how our planet works to exploring the many different people who call Earth home, the book introduces big ideas in a warm, accessible way. Its colourful illustrations and thoughtful observations encourage children to ask questions, appreciate differences, and look after the world around them.

A #1 New York Times bestseller and TIME Magazine Best Book of the Year, Here We Are is a heartfelt, humorous celebration of our shared home—and a wonderful book to revisit as children grow.
